Dial Cyprus directly through your phone carrier using country code 357 — convenient, but international rates can add up fast.
Prepaid calling cards let you reach Cyprus at lower rates, though you'll juggle access numbers and PINs each time.
MeraTalk connects you to Cyprus over the internet with HD-clear audio, low rates, and no hardware to set up.
Dial 011, then 357, then the number in full — nothing is dropped.
On a mobile you can replace the exit code with a + sign and dial +357 directly, which works from any country without knowing the local exit code.
Full dialing sequence
Start by dialing your own country's international access code. From the US or Canada this is 011; from most of Europe it's 00. This tells your network you're making an international call.
Immediately follow with Cyprus's country code — no spaces or dashes. This routes your call to Cyprus's telephone network. On smartphones, replace the exit code with a + sign.
Cyprus has no trunk prefix, so there is nothing to drop. Dial the number exactly as it is written — the same digits are used at home and from abroad. Cypriot mobile numbers begin 9 and carry no area code.
Enter all remaining digits of the local number exactly as written. For mobile numbers, include every digit — no abbreviations. Press call and your carrier does the rest.
A strong, stable internet connection is the foundation of every clear call — use Wi-Fi or solid data whenever you can.
A quality headset sharpens both ends of the conversation, making your calls to Cyprus clearer and more comfortable.
Keep the time difference in mind — UTC+2 — so you reach people at a reasonable hour and not in the middle of the night.
The price of calling Cyprus swings widely depending on whether you use a carrier, a calling card, or VoIP — and VoIP usually wins.
How to get started with MeraTalk
Phone numbers in Cyprus follow set ranges after the 357 country code, distinguishing mobiles, landlines, and special services.
+357 is Cyprus. A number showing +357 or 00357 is coming from the Republic of Cyprus.
Cyprus has no trunk prefix and no leading zero — dial +357 followed by all eight digits, the same digits people dial inside the country. The plan has been closed since 1 December 2001.
Northern Cyprus is not on the Cypriot numbering plan. It uses the Turkish plan under country code +90, so a number in the north is reached as a Turkish number: +90 392 for landlines, +90 533 or +90 542 for mobiles.
Dialling +357 for a northern number will not connect, and nothing in the failure explains why.
Cypriot area codes by city, with the full number as you dial it from abroad.
Cyprus has no trunk prefix: a Cypriot number is eight digits dialled the same way at home and from abroad, so there is no leading zero to drop — just add +357.
